The Silence of the Lambs is a novel by American screenwriter and novelist Thomas Harris, which was first published in 1988 and is the sequel to Harris‘ novel Red Dragon. Both novels are connected with the main character – the cannibalistic serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter – the intellectually brilliant, cultured and sophisticated man with refined tastes in art, music and cuisine. In this book Hannibal Lecter‘s further story is revealed by an FBI agent-in-training Clarice Starling‘s thrilling attempt to catch a serial killer known as "Buffalo Bill".
