Since the nineteenth century in the world entrenched capitalism has changed many people’s lives. In the first world countries massive manufacture was started and it significantly increased the amount of goods. Needless to say, the abundance of goods stimulated competition between companies. For this reason, companies started excessive advertising, which promoted consumerism and it definitely has had both positive and negative influence so far.
To begin with, the main drawback of the view that advertising promotes excessive consumerism is the abundance of overrated and overpriced goods. Clarify a point, what is being highlighted in the market is the name of the company. For instance, “Apple” company is the leading company in terms of selling because of excessive advertising. For this reason, the price is too high considering “Apple” products technical properties. What is more, excessive advertising has become a form of manipulation of the population and this affects the public capacity to make a decision on their own.
