Anglų rašinys. An earthquake is a sudden shake of the Earth's crust caused by the tectonic plates colliding. It is one of the most biggest natural disaster, wich qonsequenses usually are very painful for people and our environment. So it is really important to know what are the biggest earthquakes in the world and where thy occure, what damage they can do and what we should to avoid this curse.
As we know tremors are very common natural disaster. There are around 500,000 earthquakes each year. But most of them aren‘t very large. They can occur almost everywhere, but the most seismic palce in the world in Pacific seismic belt, known as the Ring of Fire. The first devastating earthquake in this zone occurred in 16th century in China and killed more than 830,000 people. Other evidence, that the ring of fire is the the most seismic zone is the earthquake in Japan, wich is one of the five most powerful earthquakes in the world and it was the largest Japanese earthquake since records began. The earthquake caused the most difficult crisis for Japan after the end of the world war II and there are confirmed 11 000 deaths and 17 000 people missing. So therefore we can see how dangerous is to live in this part of the world. But how I sad earthquakes can occur everywhere and With the rapid growth of mega-cities such as Mexico or Tokyo, in areas of high seismic risk, some seismologists are warning that a single quake may claim the lives of up to 3 million people.
