Organizational performance is essential in allowing researchers and managers to evaluate firms over time and compare them to rivals. Its definition in business dictionary is- an analysis of company’s performance compared to goals and objectives. In short, organizational performance is the most important criterion in evaluating organizations, their actions, and environments. However measuring it can be very hard, because it consists of a number of variables and is not a single number. The most important areas it encompasses are the following: (1) financial performance (profits, return on assets, return on investment, etc.); (2) market performance (sales, market share, etc.); and (3) shareholder return (total shareholder return, economic value added, etc.).
