The Influence of the Nation - State on Individual Support for the European Union
Politologijos esė. The Influence of the Nation - State on Individual Support for the European Union.
First theory (conditional processes) says, that citizens’ approach about EU comes from the domestic level, based on the economic, political, historical, cultural context. A situation in the nation state influences the understanding and evaluations of EU. It means, that the vary of evaluations of EU in different countries comes from the different national contexts in each state.
The second one (non-conditional processes) says that the evaluation of EU belongs from the different costs and benefits that EU gives for the member states and goes from European level.
According to the author, there is an interaction between the national and supranational politics, therefore we have to consider the attitudes in these two contexts. By the tests of endogeneity we can find out if the European factor represents conditional or non – conditional variables.
