Anglų esė. Why does social policy matter?
Since Oton von Bismarck introduced social security policies about disability, illnesses and chance – medley (nelaimingus atsitikimus) from 1883 to 1889 in Germany, it has been an important reform, which was the begging of social policy in Europe. Yet today, many people do not know what social policy is, because they have lack of knowledge and compare it with policy or social work. What is why they believe that social policy is not important in our society. The purpose of this essay is to reveal what social policy is and how it is important for us. I believe, that we should know that social policy is a policy, which brings us happiness.
Before exploring the topic in more detail, it seems necessary to propose a working definition of ‘social policy’. ‘Social Policy refers to the development of welfare, social administration and policies of the government used for social protection’ (Alcock, 2003). Meanwhile, it is not just a mere academic subject but relates to social and economic conditions of a country, how to promote these conditions for the development of a welfare state.
