War in Afghanistan began on 27th of April in 1978, when the People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan became the party in power. It caused disruption, most of Afghanistan experienced uprisings against the new government. In December 1979 The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan to replace the existing communist government and Afghanistan’s resistant forces fought against the Soviet invasion. Some fractions received support from the U.S so in 1989, The Soviet Union had to withdraw its troops. However, the uprisings didn’t stop and the civil war continued. In 2001, following the September 11th attacks inside the U.S, NATO intervened in Afghanistan. The purpose of that was to defeat Al-Qaeda and help create a democratic state. On 28th of December in 2014, NATO formally ended combat operations in Afghanistan and transferred full security to the Afghan government.
