Citizen Journalism

Citizen Journalism.

Citizen journalism has expanded worldwide despite concerns over whether citizen journalists are as reliable as trained professionals. There is always two sides to every story, and citizen journalism is no different. Firstly, i will present the benefits of this new type of journalism and what good has it done to our society.

To begin with, citizen journalism always has an advantage of time when it comes to covering emergencies. The public can upload the latest pictures, videos and reports about the event on the Internet at an extremely fast speed. Professional journalism will have a great weakness over on site reporting over the time, and inevitably will have less and less power.

Furthermore, on site reporters represent the facts and news based on their own perspective and from the point of view of the local people in that area or city. The general media always pay much more attention about big event leaving out some ordinary people’s issues. It inspires the local viewer to bring changes in the society and government.

In conclusion citizen journalism is fast, can reach a very wide audience and can also appeal to a specific region to influence change.
