Learning about the past has no value for those of us living in the present Do you agree or disagree with this statement ?

These days people are more likely to chose living in the moment instead of learning about the past and recalling past mistakes. In my view, history has a strong studying value and I partly disagree with this statement.
Secondly, we examine our actions in the past and make judgments about what about what was right and what was wrong. For example, from past experiences we learn about how horrible is war. We learn that when war occurs, people try to kill other people, destroy cities, make oneself lose faith in humanity. By learning about these things, we can fully understand that war causes great amounts of pain and suffering and that we should try everything to prevent them.
There is, however, some seemingly small, but important value to ignoring the past. History or tradition can constrain our thoughts in the present. Many important philosophical and scientific ideas have only been possible as a resulf of ignoring the past.
