Sustainable destination development involves many aspects, it can be more complicated in a destination like Alaska which receives the main portion of it’s tourists from cruise ships. Therefore the managenment and marketing is important. Alaska is trying to target the people who seek for authenticity and beauty of wildlife, and people who care about environment.

That especially brings into focus the environmental aspects. Alaska’s environmental problems has increased a lot since the late 1990’s because of the big number of massive ships coming into Alaska’s waters and dumping waste waters in it, damaging the natural enviromnemt of salmons and quality of water.
