Letter to the editor: genetically modified pets.


I was greatly fascinated by your article on genetically modified pets. As a person who is very much interested in marine biology and the future of genetic modification, I view this as a scientific accomplishment. While I do recognise that genetic modification is not perfect as of now, I do believe that it is very well on its way to becoming a successful practice in modern society.

First of all, I believe that it may be worth mentioning that genetic modification isn't just useful for vanity purposes only. For example, genetic modifications to select species of fish could provide better resistance to bacterial diseases and/or make the fish more tolerant to cold temperatures.
